Everything is Made in China

Coby Lubliner

Everything is made in China
Nothing will be any finer
If it’s made in Carolina,
North or South.
Underwear and plastic dishes
Everything a body wishes.
Jumbo prawns that taste delicious
In your mouth.

If there is a little bit of lead
In the clothes your children wear to bed,
Don’t you fret your pretty little head.
In the end we’re all gonna to be dead.

Everything is made in China
Nothing will be any finer
If it’s made in Carolina,
South or North.
Barbecues and perfume sprayers
(How they’re made nobody cares),
Garden hoses, video players,
And so forth.

If you hear of milk with melamine
When you’re plugged in to the news machine,
You may not be sure of what they mean,
But you guess it’s something quite obscene.

Everything is made in China
Nothing will be any finer
If it’s made in Carolina,
East or West.
Down duvets that won’t be shedding
On your lovely silken bedding,
To make sure that your dream wedding
Is the best.

Well, now, China sells us everything,
Not just china vases from the Ming.
In the words of Chairman Deng Xiaoping,
Getting rich is quite a glorious thing.

Everything is made in China
Nothing will be any finer
If it’s made in Carolina,
West or East.
I can say without presumption,
We’re addicted to consumption,
But if you can find the gumption,
Slay the beast.

China is so far yet seems so near
When container ships are at the pier.
It’s so hard to find stuff that’s made here,
And the choice we make is pretty clear.
