Course Description: Mechanics of load-carrying members: stress, strain, elastic stress-strain relations, work and energy, boundary-value problems. Torsion. Bending of beams and plates: asymmetric bending, thermoelastic bending, thin-walled and sandwich beams, introduction to plate theory. Buckling of bars.
